Meeting The Dalai Lama

Hi guys,

I have been so excited to share this with you…

Guess what!?

A dream of mine JUST came true!

While at the Engage Today event in Calgary, Alberta last month, I got to meet the Dalai Lama! It was SO awesome! He is one of the most compassionate and kind souls I have ever met.

Here’s the whole story of how we met:

Here’s a photo of the Dalai Lama blessing me! It was surreal.

Oh and check this — the Dalai Lama likes my book. hehe.

Man, it sure feels great to cross something else of my bucket list!

Have you crossed anything off yours lately? Share it with me below.

Peace,

Sean

    Dear Sean,
I am as moved by you as you were to the Dalai Lama. Why? Because you live your life with the same principals. You love yourself and you sure give that love in service to others. I feel blessed to know you.

Sean-There should be more people like you in the world today. The Dalai Lama is the ultimate expression of truth and kindness. We are all blessed to have lived in the time when he is alive and we can see and learn from his great teachings. I have always said life is so simple that sometimes we complicate it too much.
Thanks for sharing with all of us.

Thank you Sean for a such a wonderful an inspiring video. I can’t explain in words what I felt, but I know I was in another place and very connected with your words,& with your story.

And for Sabrina, I had the same special time with my mother when she passed over. I am truly grateful for the 3 weeks we had with mum, laughing, and enjoying her sense of humour. I still remember one day she came out with a comment it was just so funny. she said all her good byes to all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. It was a very special time for our family also. Take Care and remember the good times and that very special time you had.

thank you Sean I am grateful for your inspiration.

    Hello Sean!
I am SO excited for your experience, and SO grateful that you shared it with everyone. You are SO blessed, actually “doubly blessed” by the Dalai Lama himself!! Then you ‘multiply that forward’ to THE WORLD by sharing your life & blessed experiences .… What a legacy! How many people on this blessed planet will ever have THAT on their bucket list???

Another thing I love about this is that you asked the very question I would have asked His Holyness ~ What does he like best about being the Dalai Lama and what makes him happy? The fact that he mentioned animals, and birds who cannot fly speaks directly to my heart! And volumes to the world. My hope is that the world finally gets the greater message! It has given ME great validation, knowing that HE feels the same way I do,(since the age of 3)! More Love & Blessings upon you Sean ~ our very sweet, special, gentle, giant, mentor!

I think you are doing many things right, according to your definition.
I was with you in the large audience at Engage Today and felt the presence of the Dalai Lama and saw him bless you and I was thrilled for you and me for being a part of that.
I was there for your presentation at Engage Today which I thought was amazing and so inspiring. Keep up all the wonderful work you do.
I look forward to your TV show.

    SEAN

Wonderful blog. You have mastered the blog better than all known human’s. I will be borrowing your approach when I set up my free throw mastery web site.

Congradulations on reaching another of your goals that appear on your bucket list. The goal of meeting the Dalai Lama turned out amazing in that it’s like we all got to meet him through you. Thanks so much for that experience.

I am close to finishing my free throw mastery book and setting up the National Basketball Shooters Association. Reaching two more of my bucket list life goals.

Looking forward to seeing your new TV show on November 15th. I know you will be a great success! I’m telling and emailing all my friends.

This is not your typical “bucket list” story, as I’d never have even thought of seeking this out as a fulfillment to my life, but here goes:

My dad (age 73) had a stroke when he was in his early sixties, then on Oct. 9th, 2009 he had another one. He was basically a prisoner in his own body–unable to move or even talk. He had a living will that stipulated he did not wish to be kept alive by artificial means if he was ever in a “terminal condition.” (I think life in itself is a “terminal condition,” as we are all going to die, right?) I live in Kansas and my parents and sisters live in Ohio. I hopped a plane back on Oct. 12th to be with my family. Over the next eleven days, we watched as my dad died. Those days were filled with anxiety, grief, laughter, love and peace. I truly felt uplifted and I know that God was with me. The whole ordeal was so blessed. My dad’s death brought our family closer together than we have been in years, for one thing. I have three sisters and we’d grown apart over the years. We were afforded the time to talk to dad, to love him, to hold his hands, stroke his face and arms, and kiss has cheeks. For that extra time I am so grateful. God, in His grace, gave us time with our dad. Time to accept that his journey with us on this earth was coming to an end. My mom was also afforded the time to gently let go of her husband of 51 years. It was a bittersweet experience, but it deepened my faith and I experienced such spiritual growth that I am having difficulty putting it to words. It was deep on so many levels. I guess you could say that we did the hardest thing…we let the man who gave us life go…go with God in love. It was the most unselfish thing any of us has ever done, at the same time.

Thank you so much for this, Sean. I got tears in my eyes while I was listening. Since I don’t have cable, I won’t be able to see your TV show, so I am extra glad to be able to see your fabulous, inspiring blogs.
