I have a confession to make. I have an addiction.
My addiction is living too much in the future.
Living too much in the future is not cool.
Why?
When you live too much in the future, or the past, you forget about what’s really important — the present.
Remember this, there’s a reason why it’s called the present…
It is a gift.
Enjoy it.
Sean
P.S. Do you live too much in the future too? Or maybe you hang on to your past? Let me know. Share your comments below.

This was beautiful
Thank you

Hi Sean,
I really appreciate your thoughts and perspectives. I’ve watched quite a few of your vids in the last couple days and feel inspired because of them.
Thank you!
Excellent & probably the most important of all your videos (in my opinion). The most powerful thing is that this world is NOT virtual. Everything around us is 100% REAL. It’s so sad that we live in a VIRTUAL world of our minds (dreams and nightmares).
Realization, the present is REAL. Thank you for the gift for today now. You can’t touch the past or the future yet, but the present is tangible. You can feel it, hold it, touch it, and really see. I love the present.
Am like you Sean…
But your right the present is a gift…
Even if the present is something small, something little going on in your life, it’s a gift.
Have a Great Day Sean…
Greetings from Small town Maine, USA
hey this is a big truth… the most important thing in the world, to enjoy and live the moment for what it is.
i have this problem too, but i am trying to get rid of it!
Liked the video and it rings true unfortunately it’s the present that I hate and my hurt comes from the past so I only have the future to dream about.
I hate the situation I am in at the present time and can’t stand to look at the past and look at all the bad times that happened but also looking into the good times if fun.
I just want better things to come my way.
Thank you Sean..! It seems that all my life I have been living in the PAST, the FUTURE.. but hardly in the PRESENT. Recently I have tried to be more in the NOW. But somewhat it didnt really work out. Thanks for showing the way!
Lothar
Thanks for this important message.
I spent most of my life in the future.. I got rid of this addiction with meditation ( vipassana ). Now I live so much in the present that I had a very hard to make any project.. at all..
I enjoy so much this relaxing life style.. I don’t think that I will ever go back to my previous worrier state.. I will rather sit on a beach or in a cave for the rest of my life..
I plan to tell you something.. I forgot..
So true about living in the present. I did an experiment once and left my family for 1 month to meditate in an underground room. At first I was full of anxiety about the situation I had put myself into.
In my meditation I decided to go fully into the present. For the next thirty days I was able to dwell in the gift of the presence in joy and thanksgiving. It was an amazing experience and such as simple act but is the most liberating thing anyone can do.
I too have this addiction of living in the past, although some of my fAVORITE times and memories is what makes us who we are and may or may not affect the present, but the future can be what we have learned and experienced, but we have to be having a positive life before knowing what it all means. In order to move on, the past will always be there and it does affect our future but to dwell keeps us stagnate and stuck in the mudd in makinbg wise choices or our future.
Your articles/videos inspire us to become more productive. I totally believe and remind myself to be in the present moment. Taking deep breath, just paying gratitude to what I have right now, and doing EFT( Emotional Freedom Technique) brings me to present moment. It is a moment of power and helps make decision with clarity.
sherry here,
your video about the present– i in the past have been a past and future addiction-it hasn’t helped-would appreciate advice on how to untangle the self from doing it. you are able to do that when i can imagine your past wasn’t easy-and i applaud you in a way for looking forth to your future-both have been issues i need to change-sherry-keep on going

Hi Sean

Ok this is my first time visit your blog and I enjoyed all articles and videos which I saw
Unfortunately I have this addiction as well and I have to say most of the time it totally ruins my present.
Usually I think too much about future and sometimes I remember all bad things from yesterdays and it’s not good.
Yep it need some exercise to just living in present learning from past and planning the best for future.
Thanks for inspiration
Sherry

H Sean, we met at the Engage Today event and I will always hold dear your wonderful balanced hugs.
That was then and this is now, thanks so much for the reminder! I enjoyed the exercise and will remember to do it often to keep myself in the now.
May I say what a gift you are to the world, to my world, you are so inspiring and loving, I use you as my example whenever I even think of complaining about something. I just stop and think about you.
Thanks so much for everything.

Hi Sean, thank you so much for this video and your website, very inspiring!
I am working at the moment at ‘living in the present’ for myself as well. I find Byron Katie and her “the work” very helpful. She says, that it is our thoughts (about the past, the future, us…), that create pain and suffering and by questioning them (with help of her worksheet if you like), it will enable us to life liberated and happy in the present.(Anybody interested can google her, she has 2 websites and its for free) It certainly is helping me heaps.
Take care and have a great day in the present! Bee
Great video Sean. It is such a skill to be mindfull all the time and mindfully allow thoughts to come and go but not follow them to the past or the future. Great little ‘STOP’ meditation — just enough to interrupt what ever is happening in the mind.
cheers
Marysia
Thank You Sean I am truly grateful for your video today, it did remind me to be grateful for everything I have at the moment in my present.
Hearing the birds singing and the lovely music I have playing in the background. The colours that surround me.
thank you again of the reminder to live for the now for the present, because it is a gift.
Thank you
Rosemary
Thank you Sean for bring me to the present today. I have a tendency to live in the future and overlook the present.
You are such a blessing to me.
Thank you, Carolyn

Hello Sean, I’m Bonnie and I have been following your blog for a while. You have so much insight to so many positive things. The past, present, and future. What ever it may happen to be in just that one moment, of ones life, you have a great gift to pass on to others. You make people think where maybe they haven’t thought before. I am truly grateful for your having this impact on my life. You are so true to all. Thank you Sean. Bonnie
Hello Sean,
I didn’t notice until your comment about living in the future or sometimes in the past.
In my opinion living in the past is much more dangerous than the future specially if has something bad and you don’t let it go.
Now I’ll try be concentrade in my present and of course plaining my future!
Thanks a lot
God Bless You
Thank you, Sean. At this time in my life, I have forgotten about the present. I really needed to be reminded. During the activity, I felt so at peace and very open to my higher power. Today, I will live in today!!!

(your m—- buddy !!) remember?
Holy cow. For me, this was some wake-up-call! A brilliant shift of focus.
When I watched the latest vid just now, I was taking a break from loads of planning for the future. Just then I suddenly realized: I’ve got nothing planned for today!
I’ve recently been way too much caught up in things I’ll BE doing in the future, and how good I’m GOING to feel. I’m accusing myself of the following thinking pattern: “I’ll feel great, as long as I get this and this done first.”
I believe life is a journey, things’ll never be “perfect”. I should start enjoying the process more, and not think so… computerized or systematic. Even if I’m an emotional person, I feel as if I really need to become more impulsive.
I wish you all the best, you rock!!
Hi Sean,
My daughter and I just watched/listened to you, and we both feel very privileged to tune in to the amazingly positive and ‘contagious’ energy that you emanate!
Thank you for sharing yourself with us all!
With Gratitude!

Thank you Sean
You are so right. I am practicing the Law Of Attraction. First, know really what I want, then feel that I already have it, without a doubt. Practice, practice, practice!
